Everyone should have a list of personal and professional mantras that connect with the inner essence of who we are as persons and professionals. Something to remind ourselves regularly, even more after such a year.

This is my list of leadership mantras ->

News on SaaSed-up companies 🗞

A Tesla subscription for their Full Self Driving (FSD) software will be available in 2021. Just as you buy a bike from Peloton Interactive and also subscribe to the software, the same will be true for a car. Link.

News on SaaSing-up companies 📈

Hollywood feels as if it is stepping into a new era - a hybrid model in which the theaters still in operation can show new releases while they are also made available through streaming or on-demand services. Streaming is the new priority. Link.

Warner Bros is jumping online. Link.

Disney held an investor day announcing a surge in direct to consumer. The Disney Plus subscriber target had been 60-90m by 2024 and it's already reached 87m. Link.

Apple announced the launch of its Fitness+ , a subscription service for digital fitness classes, at a price lower than Peloton Interactive. Link.

Ikea will no longer produce a printed catalogue. Link.

The Coca Cola Company in SaaSification mode. It created a Platform Services organization and hired the new Chief Data Officer from Microsoft. This will include data management, consumer analytics, digital commerce and social/digital hubs. Link.

Rising Stars

BarkBox, a subscription service for pet owners, is going public via a merger in a $1.6 billion deal. Link.

Interesting reads 📖

Although a Product-Led-Growth strategy is very useful to get initial traction in SaaS, it’s not enough to unlock the full potential of a market. “If we had operationalized the sales funnel earlier, we would be a billion dollar company already.” “We layered in top down sales too late. It was the single biggest mistake at the company.” Link.

Podcasts and Webinars 🎬

Owning and operating a successful subscription requires effective logistics. From the warehouse to the fulfillment services, there’s a lot to understand. Link.
